Pope appoints Donegal nun to senior Vatican missionary role

Pope Leo XIV has appointed a religious sister from Donegal to the most senior role in the Vatican's global missionary funds and networks. This marks a notable elevation of a woman to a senior administrative position within the Vatican, though the specific impact on church policy or global missionary operations remains unclear. The appointment signals a continued, if incremental, shift toward greater female representation in Vatican governance.
