Peru SUNAT to require IMEI declaration for all imported cell phones from Oct 5

Peru's customs authority (SUNAT) will require importers to declare the IMEI and serial number of each cell phone entering under consumption regime starting October 5, 2026. This tightens control over devices with irregularities, following millions of phone blocks this year. The measure aims to curb smuggling and theft-related device trafficking, potentially impacting legitimate importers' compliance costs and customs processing times.
