Russian airports in Penza, Saransk, Saratov suspend operations amid drone threat

Rosaviatsia imposed temporary flight restrictions at airports in Penza, Saransk, and Saratov on October 10, 2026, likely due to Ukrainian drone activity. This is a recurring pattern of Russian airport closures in response to cross-border attacks, but the geographic spread into central Russia suggests an expanding threat perimeter. The restrictions disrupt civil aviation and signal continued vulnerability of Russian airspace.
