Trump references Somaliland as separate country; region declared independence in 1991

US President Donald Trump referred to Somaliland as a country, a region that declared independence from Somalia in 1991 but lacks international recognition. The remark may signal a potential shift in US policy toward recognizing Somaliland, though no formal action has been announced. This is notable as it could affect regional dynamics in the Horn of Africa.
