ISWA militants attack military base in Borno, Nigeria; dozens killed

Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWA) fighters attacked a military base in Borno state, northeastern Nigeria, triggering clashes that left dozens dead, per AFP citing local and military sources. The attack is a continuation of ISWA's ongoing insurgency in the Lake Chad basin, but the scale of casualties suggests a significant operational capability. The incident underscores persistent insecurity in the region despite government claims of progress.
