Bosnia and Herzegovina security sector faces critical personnel shortages and recruitment decline

The Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina is operating with a 44% staff deficit, while interest in joining the Armed Forces of BiH (OSBiH) continues to decline, particularly among the Croat population. Despite an increased institutional budget, structural deficiencies in recruitment and retention remain unaddressed, threatening the operational capacity of national security institutions.
