Houthis down Saudi jet over Yemen; two ships sink in Strait of Hormuz

The Houthis shot down a Saudi fighter jet over Yemen, marking an escalation in the conflict. Separately, two ships sank in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical chokepoint for global oil transit, though the cause is unclear. The UK pledged $22 million for Chernobyl repairs, a separate development. The downing and shipping incidents raise regional tensions and potential supply risks.
