German Army Tests IRIS-T SLM Air Defense System on Crete in Joint Exercise

Germany conducted live-fire tests of the IRIS-T SLM air defense system on Crete as part of Exercise Spartan Arrow 2026, which also includes Swedish forces and the Patriot system. The system is already operational in Ukraine, and this exercise underscores NATO's focus on integrated air defense in the Eastern Mediterranean. The test validates system performance in a new environment, but no specific results were disclosed.
