Mechelen R6-E19 ramp closure due to bridge damage threatens regional traffic gridlock

The ramp connecting the R6 to the E19 motorway toward Brussels will remain closed indefinitely following structural damage to a bridge over the Dijle river. Mayor Bart Somers warns that local road networks lack the capacity to absorb the diverted traffic, creating a high risk of severe congestion in the Mechelen area.
