Ghent Court of Appeal convicts AZ Alma hospital for involuntary manslaughter in patient lift fatality

The Ghent Court of Appeal found AZ Alma hospital in Eeklo guilty of involuntary manslaughter regarding the 2026 death of an 83-year-old patient who died while attempting to exit a patient lift. While the hospital was convicted, two nurses involved in the incident were acquitted of charges.
