Belgium: 38 police killed on duty since 2000, most accidental, some homicides

A census by the Police Memorial website records 38 Belgian police officers killed in the line of duty since 2000, with most deaths accidental (traffic) but several homicides, including Inspector Jonathan Savel (2024, shooting) and Thomas Monjoie (2022, knife attack in Brussels). The data underscores persistent risks in policing, though the overall toll is low and largely non-criminal.
