Brazil faces systemic unpreparedness for intensifying El Niño weather patterns

Brazil remains structurally vulnerable to extreme weather events as a new El Niño cycle begins, following recent historic droughts in the Pantanal and Amazon and record flooding in Rio Grande do Sul. Despite the increasing frequency of climate-driven disasters, the country has failed to implement significant adaptation or prevention infrastructure, heightening the risk of future humanitarian and economic crises.
