Bolshoi Theatre head proposes doubling venue capacity to 6,000 seats

Valery Gergiev has announced plans to expand the Bolshoi Theatre's seating capacity from approximately 2,600 to 5,000–6,000. The feasibility of such a structural expansion within the historic venue remains unverified and subject to architectural and regulatory review.
