Bundeswehr grapples with Wehrmacht Knight's Cross legacy in historical review

A German media report examines how the Bundeswehr has handled veterans of the Wehrmacht who received the Knight's Cross, a highly decorated group of about 7,000 among nearly 20 million served. The piece reflects ongoing institutional reckoning with Nazi-era military traditions, but no new policy change or event is reported. The significance lies in the continued historical and cultural debate within Germany's armed forces.
