Israel Election Committee disqualifies Balad chairman Abu Shehadeh; Supreme Court to rule

Israel's Central Elections Committee disqualified Sami Abu Shehadeh, chairman of the Arab party Balad, from running in upcoming elections, with unusual cross-party support including from centrist and left-wing figures. The Attorney General backed the decision, and a Supreme Court judge broke convention by expressing an opinion. The court will now rule, following the earlier disqualification of MK Ofer Cassif.
