NASA's Perseverance rover sets off-world distance record on Mars

NASA's Perseverance rover has traveled 45.22 km on Mars, surpassing the previous record of 45.16 km set by Opportunity, making it the farthest any human-made vehicle has traveled on another planet. The achievement, five years after landing, exceeds its original 20 km target, though its slow average speed of 9 km/year reflects the challenges of Martian terrain. This milestone underscores NASA's continued operational success in planetary exploration.
