BBC to close three broadcast channels in £500m savings drive

The BBC announced the closure of BBC Three, BBC Scotland, and Radio 4 Extra as part of a £500m cost-saving program over two years. This marks a significant shift in the UK public broadcaster's strategy, reflecting ongoing financial pressures and a pivot to digital. The move is likely to spark political and public debate over the BBC's funding model and service remit.
