Severe electrical storms cause widespread disruption in Northern and Central Italy

Severe weather in Liguria produced approximately 40,000 lightning strikes within a few hours, causing significant infrastructure and transit disruption. A flight from Bucharest was diverted to Pisa as a direct result of the storm conditions.
