Brazil to replace diesel with floating solar on Fernando de Noronha by 2027

Neoenergia, with federal and Pernambuco state governments, is deploying a floating photovoltaic plant at Xaréu Reservoir and over 30,000 additional panels on Fernando de Noronha to decarbonize the archipelago, currently diesel-dependent. The R$350 million project targets completion by first half of 2027. This marks a concrete shift from fossil fuels to renewables in an isolated grid, reducing diesel logistics and emissions.
