Forensic analysis of Emperor Otto I remains completed during restoration of Magdeburg Cathedral tomb

Archaeological and forensic examination of the remains of Holy Roman Emperor Otto the Great was conducted during a scheduled restoration of his burial site in Magdeburg. The analysis provides new biological data on the 10th-century monarch, who will be reinterred in a new tomb following the completion of the project.
