Polish environmental agency intervenes to halt tree felling for flood embankment project

RDOŚ in Wrocław has called on Wody Polskie to stop cutting 678 trees, including century-old oaks and a large pear tree, for a 15 million zł anti-flood embankment reconstruction along the Bystrzyca river. The trees are habitats of protected species, raising legal and environmental concerns. The outcome is uncertain as the state water company may proceed despite the intervention.
