Brazilian criminal syndicates pivot to pharmaceutical cargo theft

Criminal organizations in Brazil are shifting tactics from high-volume cargo theft to high-value pharmaceutical products, resulting in R$ 283 million in losses for the sector in 2024. While pharmaceuticals represent only 2% of total theft incidents, their high resale value and portability have made them the primary target for organized crime groups.
