Ex-Chihuahua prosecutor detained in probe of CIA-linked operation

César Jáuregui, former prosecutor of Chihuahua, was arrested on charges of illegal exercise of public service and falsification of documents, tied to an investigation of an April 2026 operation involving CIA agents. The detention signals potential official misconduct and raises questions about the scope of foreign intelligence involvement in Mexican state affairs. The case is developing, with details of the operation and Jáuregui's alleged role still unclear.
