Maersk, Lloyd's Register Study Nuclear-Powered Atlantic Container Route

Lloyd's Register, Maersk, and two major container ports are launching a feasibility study for a nuclear-powered containership service between the US and UK, dubbed the 'Pink Corridor'. The project assesses regulatory, safety, and operational requirements for nuclear propulsion in commercial shipping, a first for the industry. If viable, it could reshape maritime energy use and emissions, but faces significant technical and regulatory hurdles.
