El Niño drives extreme heat in Colombia, straining hydroelectric power and water supply

Colombia is experiencing extreme heat with temperatures up to 40°C in the Caribbean region due to El Niño, reducing rainfall and reservoir levels. This threatens water supply and electricity generation, as nearly two-thirds of the country's power depends on hydroelectric sources.
