Pakistan Imposes Emergency Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Suspends Khan's Government

Pakistan's President has declared a state of emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, suspending the provincial government led by former PM Imran Khan's party (PTI). This federal intervention, citing failure to tackle Islamist militancy and breakdown of law and order, is confirmed by multiple high-confidence sources and significantly escalates political tensions ahead of expected elections. The constitutional basis and the full extent of the security threat remain contested.
