Colombia: First anti-government protest marks opening round ahead of 2027 elections

The first demonstration against the Colombian government has taken place, with former President Gustavo Petro present at Plaza de Bolívar. This marks the initial clash in the political lead-up to the 2027 elections, signaling early opposition mobilization. The scale and composition of the protest remain unclear, but its timing suggests a strategic opening salvo in the pre-electoral period.
