IS Attack in Mali's Menaka Region Kills 48, Local MP Says

Islamic State militants killed 48 people in an attack in the Menaka region of eastern Mali, according to a local MP cited by AP. The claim is unverified by independent sources, and the scale and target of the attack remain unclear. This underscores the ongoing extremist insurgency in the Sahel, where state control is limited.
