Peru: Three elected governors have criminal sentences; more may follow

Three newly elected regional governors in Peru (Huánuco, San Martín, Ucayali) have firm criminal convictions for domestic violence, public endangerment, and child support. In nine other regions, at least one second-round candidate also has a firm sentence, suggesting the number of convicted governors could rise. This raises governance and rule-of-law concerns in Peru's subnational politics.
