Bolivian 'Tilcayo' Identified as New Species, Initially Mistaken for Domestic Cat

A feline rescued by a rural family in Bolivia's Yungas region, initially thought to be a domestic cat, has been identified as a new species. Biologist Paola Nogales Ascarrunz of National Geographic is leading the investigation. The discovery expands known biodiversity in the region, though taxonomic details remain to be formally published.
