Denmark inaugurates Greensand, first large-scale EU CO2 storage site

Denmark has put into service the Greensand CO2 storage site, the first large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility in the EU, according to Ineos CEO David Bucknall. The project aims to provide a foundation for future CCS projects across Europe, targeting hard-to-decarbonize industries like cement and steel. The economic viability of CCS remains uncertain, but the inauguration signals policy support and a potential shift in European climate infrastructure.
