Germany eyes Azores spaceport for small rockets, microsatellites

Germany's defense minister Pistorius expressed interest in cooperating with Portugal on a planned spaceport on Santa Maria island, Azores, for small rockets and microsatellites. This signals Germany's intent to secure independent launch capabilities for military and civilian microsatellites, reducing reliance on foreign providers. The project is in early diplomatic stages; no formal agreement or timeline has been announced.
