Russian police search home of Novaya Gazeta editor-in-chief Sokolov

Russian law enforcement is searching the home of Sergei Sokolov, editor-in-chief of the independent newspaper Novaya Gazeta, according to Baza and RBC. The move signals continued state pressure on independent media in Russia, though the specific grounds for the search remain unclear. This follows a pattern of crackdowns on independent outlets, but the direct targeting of the editor-in-chief marks an escalation.
