Centro Científico Tropical lobbies Minae to uphold ban on private ownership of psittacines

The Centro Científico Tropical has formally requested that Costa Rica's Ministry of Environment and Energy (Minae) maintain existing prohibitions on keeping macaws, parrots, and parakeets as pets. The organization argues that regulatory relaxation would exacerbate illegal wildlife trafficking and threaten the genetic integrity of vulnerable bird populations.
