Inquest: Child safety staff overruled doctors, sent Elizabeth Struhs home before death

A Queensland coronial inquest heard that child safety staff in 2019 decided to return six-year-old Elizabeth Struhs to her parents despite some doctors' concerns, a decision police say was impossible to change. The girl later died in 2022, and 14 members of a religious sect were convicted of manslaughter. The inquest is examining systemic failures in child protection decision-making.
