Qatar offers Lebanon two gas plants, 20-year LNG supply via Syria

Qatar has proposed building two 825-MW gas-fired power plants in Lebanon and supplying LNG for 20 years via Syria, with private financing replacing Lebanese public funds. Payment terms remain open, and the plan depends on Syria transit security and Lebanese political buy-in. If realized, it would sharply increase Lebanon's power generation from a few hours daily, but execution risks are high.
