Iraq buries 47 security personnel executed by IS a decade ago

Iraq held a mass funeral for 47 security personnel whose remains were found in a mass grave, victims of IS executions during 2014-2017. The UN estimates over 200 graves with up to 12,000 victims, and new graves continue to be uncovered. This reflects ongoing efforts to identify and honor victims, but also highlights the scale of unresolved atrocities.
