Polish deposit refund system exploited via reverse vending machine loophole

Fraudsters are exploiting a design flaw in reverse vending machines in Poland, which fail to verify that the bottle or can inserted matches the one scanned, enabling repeated refunds for the same container. The abuse, highlighted by an incident at a Żabka store, is increasing as the deposit system expands. This exposes a regulatory and technical gap that could undermine the system's integrity and lead to financial losses for retailers and the scheme operator.
