Italian FdI's La Russa urges center-right unity, avoids primary clash with Lega

Senate President Ignazio La Russa (FdI) publicly advises against a head-on collision within Italy's center-right coalition over Milan's mayoral candidacy, stating FdI did not request primaries but it would be wrong to tell Lega to go it alone. This signals intra-coalition tension ahead of Milan's 2026 municipal elections, with FdI seeking a synthesis to preserve alliance unity.
