India urges U.S. to protect Indian nationals after foiled Illinois temple attack

India's MEA formally requested U.S. assurances for the safety of Indian nationals after an attempted mass shooting at a temple in Illinois, citing rising hate crimes and racial discrimination. The incident underscores a pattern of anti-Indian violence in the U.S., though details of the foiled plot remain limited. The diplomatic demarche signals potential strain in bilateral ties and may prompt U.S. federal response.
