Pope Francis mediates Putin-Zelensky ceasefire for Oleshki civilian evacuation

Pope Francis has intervened directly with Putin and Zelensky to broker a ceasefire and humanitarian corridor for civilians in Russian-occupied Oleshki and nearby towns. The initiative signals a rare high-level diplomatic push amid ongoing occupation, though the outcome and Russian commitment remain unconfirmed. This matters as it could set a precedent for localized humanitarian pauses in the conflict.
