Engie inaugurates 875 MW gas-steam plant in Belgium, among world's most efficient

Engie officially inaugurated its 875 MW gas-steam power plant in Flémalle, Belgium, which began injecting power in October 2025. The plant is among the most efficient globally and will produce 4.4-5.3 TWh annually, enough for over a million households. This adds baseload capacity as Belgium transitions away from nuclear, but its market impact is limited as it is a planned infrastructure project.
