Russian satellite Kosmos-2612 conducts close approach to ICEYE radar satellite supporting Ukraine

Russian military satellite Kosmos-2612 initiated maneuvers on September 30, approaching the ICEYE-X36 radar satellite, which provides imagery to Ukraine. The maneuver may aim to degrade the satellite's operations or shorten its lifespan without direct collision, according to space analyst Georgy Trishkin. This is an emerging pattern of Russian counterspace activity targeting commercial assets supporting Ukraine, with uncertain intent and potential for escalation.
